Lodurva was the ancient capital of the Bhati Rajputs before Rawal Jaisal moved his capital to Jaisalmer. It is known primarily for its Jain temples of bright yellow sandstone. The temple walls are decorated with pictures of Lord Parsvanatha, the 23rd Jain Tirthankara.Lodurva (also named Laudrava), the ancient capital of the Bhattis, was an important center of Jain pilgrimage, but lost most of the splendor when the Bhattis shifted their capital to Jaisalmer. There are three Jaina temples 10 km northeast of Lodurva, dedicated to Parshvanath, Rishabhanath and Shambhavanath. Inside the temple complex is the Kalpavriksha or the celestial tree. A tree was once believed to have grown here, and when it died it was substituted by a true to life sculpture in an alloy of eight metals, making it an ‘eternal tree’ symbolising enlightenment. The copper leaves are believed to have the power to fulfil the wishes of any devotee.
